Tips For Updating Your Home Swimming Pool And The Surrounding Area

Home & Garden Blog

Whether you have had a swimming pool in your backyard for one year or twenty years, you want to make sure that you are looking at the design of it and the surrounding landscape so you can always have an idea of how to improve it. After all, you want to make sure that this is an area of your yard that you want to encourage total relaxation. If you are unable to use the swimming area, relaxation is not going to happen. Therefore, you are going to want to take a moment to reflect on the following tips for improving that area.

Invest In A New Liner

If your swimming pool liner is not in the best of shape, it is not only making your swimming less comfortable, but it will quickly become an eye sore as well. Therefore, before your swimming season starts, you will want to empty the pool and then have a new liner installed. Doing this will help make it appear as though you have a much newer pool than what it might really be.

Paint The Exterior

When you have an aging above ground pool, the color on the side of it will start to fade. While there is nothing you can do to prevent this from happening, you need to think of how you can improve it once it does start to happen. Find a quality paint meant for swimming pool exteriors and get to work painting. You will have a very clean and sharp looking pool before you know it.

Add Pebbles Around The Sides

You do not want a lot of grass growing around the side of your swimming pool, especially if you have an above-ground pool. The reason for this is that the pool could become damaged by the lawn mower or weed whacker when trying to keep up with the trimming of the landscape. To avoid such problems and to give your swimming pool area a much cleaner look, you will want to add landscaping pebbles around the entire perimeter of the pool. You can keep those pebbles in place by adding larger rocks, bricks, or wood along the outside of the pebbles.

Install Non-Slip Traction Pads To The Pool Deck

Think about the traction pads that people will install on their wooden steps so that they do not slip and slide during the winter. A wet pool deck is just as dangerous so feel free to add a lot of this to the deck. This way, there is a much smaller chance of someone falling and getting injured.
